newly a customer approached me armed with photographs of her newly decorated living swing For its walls, she had chosen striped wallpaper and was now searching for an appropriate framed piece to match the design theme. While she lov the room's recent look, she was concerned that the improper frame/mat combination would clash with the vertically striped wallpaper. That got me thinking. Since she had extra wallpaper available, I proposeed turning it into a mat.
The first grade was to locate an appropriate colored print, which I deckl (carefully tearing the edges) before measuring its finished size at 12 3/4 from 16 inches. I then be built uped the print onto a Masonite board, which was slightly smaller than the print to make secure the outer border would be concealed behind the deckl rims Since I wanted the sheen of the wallpaper mat to match the wall, I decided not to use glass.
nearest I needed a moulding finish that would mingle well with the overall design of the couple the wallpaper and the artwork. My customer chose Framerica's Brazilian Walnut. To create an plane more dramatic impression, we used three individual frames. The first one--which acts as a intelligent fillet around the artwork--is Framerica's No. BW25036 which was carve to an outside dimension of 17 3/8 by way of 20 5/8 inches. That left 1 1/2 inches of mat around the print.
I then measured the lip opening of the fillet, which was 16 5/8 by dint of 19 7/8 inches, and added a 4-inch exterior mat before cutting the nearest frame (Framerica's No. BW77036) to 24 5/8 at 27 1/4 inches.
I still extremityed one more outer frame. one time again, I chose Framerica's No. BW25036 which was casted vertically in the saw with the face toward the saw wall facing the outer dimension of the No. BW 77036 that, in this case, was 29 1/8 by means of 32 3/8 inches.
To attach the sum of two units outer frames to one another, I nailed brads between the walls of a 1-inch wood block that I had placed between the frames forward the inside perimeter. That created a other lip to support the artwork.
I then secur the ascended artwork--using foamcore spacers for depth--to a foamcore platform with wallpaper in succession it. To create the outside mat, I be built uped two strips of wallpaper together forward matboard, making sure to seam them together accurately I then cut a 16 5/8- by means of 19 7/8-inch opening (straight wound no bevels), making sure to center it forward the wallpaper.
To assemble the throw out I attached frame spacers to the upturn lip of the inner "fillet" frame before placing the mat onward the frame's opening. That allowed the wallpaper matting to sit flush against the top zest of the lip. Next, I offer the No. BW77036 frame face-down forward the table and placed the "mat platform frame" package into it. The spaces between the mat and frames were backfilled with foamcore to interrupt the wallpaper matting from budding through the whole extent of time.
To finish, I simply fit the background, along with the print, into the frame's next to the first lip. It was then fitted normally.
When she saw the cessation result, my customer was thrilled. We had designed the consummate frame to complement her modern wallpaper.
