MIAMI -- Gallery Ziv has announced the arrival of "Barkett.


MIAMI -- Gallery Ziv has announced the arrival of "Barkett," an eight-foot, multi-colored flamingo, upon the 11th floor of Courthouse midmost point Miami-Dade's Family Court building. Miami resident and artist Marcie Ziv, in coordination with Miami-Dade Commissioner Sally Heyman, created and designed the big bird to share with the public.

Commissioner Heyman chose the name "Barkett" in recognition of Miami Federal critic Rosemary Barkett, who sat as the first female Chief greatest Court Justice of Florida. Officially welcomed by the agency of administrative family court Judge Joel Brown and Art in Public Places Board Members, "Barkett" will reside in Family Court by the agency of December 2003 then travel to other Miami-Dade justice facilities.

Ziv is an artist and sculptor in Coral Gables. She acknowledges Gallery Ziv, which serves as her studio and houses her work. Ziv's paintings and plastic arts feature wild, exotic and domestic animals, birds and botanicals. For more information, call (305) 774-6006
